As we head into the warmer months, a seasonal update to electricity pricing is here. Starting May 1, 2026, changes to the Regulated Price Plan (RPP) take effect for customers in London and across the province.
These updates are part of the regular transition from winter to summer pricing, set by the Ontario Energy Board, and are designed to reflect how electricity use typically changes as temperatures rise.
Electricity prices themselves are not changing at this time. That means rates remain the same for:
Only the timing and thresholds are adjusting, not the price you pay per kilowatt-hour.
Time-of-Use (TOU) hours are shifting to summer schedules
The times of day when electricity prices are lowest, mid-range, and highest will change. In the summer, higher demand often happens later in the day, so pricing periods adjust to match.
Tiered pricing thresholds are being updated
If you’re on the Tiered plan, the amount of electricity you can use at the lower price tier increases for the summer season, giving you a bit more flexibility before moving into the higher tier.
During the summer period (May 1 – October 31), the Tier threshold for residential customers is 600 kWh, while for small business customers, it remains at 750 kWh year-round.
The summer pricing structure will be in place from May 1 to October 31, 2026. After that, we’ll switch back to winter hours and thresholds as part of the usual seasonal cycle.
Every household uses electricity a little differently, and the best plan for you depends on your habits.
